Headquartered in beautiful Auburn, Schools Insurance Group (SIG) was formed in 1978 as a Joint Powers Authority, forming a partnership for the purpose of maximizing dollars for school districts. All of SIG’s revenue comes from school districts and county offices of education across five counties in Northern California. SIG is supported by a FY22-23 budget of $104,005,964 and 10 full-time staff. Over 98% of all monies spent by SIG go directly to the districts’ employees for health care and Workers’ Compensation benefits or for property/casualty losses for member schools.
