Benefits
Unit members working at least half-time but less than full-time shall be entitled to receive benefits cap at 50% by the County Office of Education. Such unit members shall have the option to participate in the available benefit programs by contributing the unit member share of the cost through payroll deduction. To participate in any one type of coverage (i.e., medical, dental, vision, or life), the unit member must enroll in and contribute toward the cost of all types of coverage.

ANNUAL STIPEND
An additional $5,000 stipend shall be granted for certificated employees assigned to a Special Education position. Stipend will be pro-rated for less than full-time equivalent.

Job Summary

Under limited direction of Special Education Program Administrator will provide quality language, speech and hearing services to severely handicapped, orthopedically handicapped, seriously emotionally disturbed, deaf, or communicatively handicapped students, ages 18 months to 22 years, through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs; a functional, community based curriculum; communication and social skill development; interagency cooperation, and a strong parent-teacher-student linkage. Opportunities exist to develop and experiment with adaptive technology, vocational education, and integration with non-handicapped populations. This position is represented by the California Teachers Association and is .75 FTE.
