Avalon School High School Japanese Teacher at Long Beach Unified School District
Job Summary
Job Summary
Avalon School is located on Santa Catalina Island and is part of the Long Beach Unified School District. Avalon School’s vacancy is for a Japanese world language high school teacher. For the first time, Avalon School is looking to offer Japanese as a world language option to our students. We recognize that building a program will take an exceptional candidate, one that not only has a love of the Japanese language and culture, but also possesses exceptional initiative and organizational skills. The assignment consists of teaching Japanese 1-2 as a singleton teacher. Potential opportunities for collaboration with other Japanese world language teachers exist within the district. If selected, relocation to the island is optional; it is not a prerequisite for employment at Avalon School. The majority of certificated staff are commuters, living in Long Beach and beyond, who take a ferry each day to get to the island. Ferry transportation is covered by the district.
