Job Summary

Job Summary

St. Bernard College Preparatory (SBCP), a co-educational Catholic High School owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, is now accepting applications for English Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the content areas and be able to engage students using a wide variety of teaching strategies. The candidate must be highly skilled at planning, organizing, and developing a curriculum to meet all learners’ needs. The candidate will also effectively collaborate with colleagues to integrate the English department goals and the school mission. The Exciting Next Chapter Over the next several years, SBCP is embarking on an audacious and exciting re-imagining of what it means to be an effective school, given the dynamic higher education and economic factors that young people face today. This reimaging is informed by a recently completed strategic plan that calls for a best-in-sector approach to instruction, curriculum, co-curricular programs, and a rich, robust student life that promises to position SBCP as one of the pre-eminent schools of choice in the Los Angeles area over the next few years. REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required Teaching credential single subject English (preferred, but not required) Effective interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and complete them by due dates. Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form. Must demonstrate sensitivity towards students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with teenagers and their parents. Ability to maintain files accurately, on paper and in software programs (aeries, canvas, Google Classroom)
