The mission of Gabriella Charter Schools is to join academic rigor with the creativity of dance to engage the hearts and minds of young people in underserved communities, empowering them to excel both inside and outside the classroom. Gabriella Charter Schools is composed of two high-performing, dance-themed charter schools in the Los Angeles community. GCS 1 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Echo Park. GCS 2 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Historic South Central. GCS has garnered accolades, including the State’s Distinguished School Award and Exemplary Arts Program Award, the California Honor Roll, California Gold Ribbon Award, the Title 1 Achievement Award, California Pivotal Practice Award, the California Charter School of the Year award, and a ranking by USC as one of the best charter schools in California. The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) is a strategic and solutions-oriented school leader who ensures operational excellence across all facets of the school community. As a key member of the school leadership team, the APO designs, manages, and continuously improves systems that support safe, joyful, organized, and efficient school operations in service of exceptional teaching, learning, and student experience. The APO oversees schoolwide systems, including daily campus programming, safety and compliance, facilities, operational staffing, family-facing interactions, and large-scale school logistics. In partnership with school leadership, the APO plans and executes school priorities that help create the conditions necessary for students, staff, and families to thrive. The APO supervises site-based operations managers and builds strong systems grounded in responsiveness, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
