Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Administrative Services Credential (possess or qualify for within six months of appointment) • Hold a valid credential authorizing service to students with special education or related services needs • Minimum of five years of successful experience in a certificated position working in special education or related services by the end of the current school year • Previous Administrative experience preferred • Experience with students on the autism spectrum preferred

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: • Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, parent and community populations. • Assist with operations of the Student Services Department in providing full range of special education services including district moderate/severe programs; • Assist the Director of Special Education/Student Services and principals with student services staff, provides necessary direction and evaluation, and assists with delivery of special education services as directed; • Assist with preschool referrals, assessment team procedures, and out-of-district special education referrals for placement in collaboration with Greater Anaheim Special Education Local Plan Area (GASELPA): • Coordinate and implement state mandated testing of special education students, including training staff; • Assist in planning, implementation, and participates in staff development and innovation of special methods for working with students with special needs, in particular children on the autism spectrum. • Provide leadership in the training and development of new special education staff. • Serve as a resource in the identification, selection, and use of instructional materials, curriculum, strategies and methodologies relevant to children with autism. • Assist in due process issues and compliance complaints as needed; • Demonstrate the core values of the district to students, staff and parents. • Obtain, organize, analyze, and evaluate a wide range of data and information and make clear, timely reports and/or recommendations as appropriate; • Take on new responsibilities and adapt to changing situations. • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned support staff. • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding students, staff and school business. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
