Responsibilities:
Organizes classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning and maintaining classroom safety and order.
Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with Diocese of Oakland Curriculum Standards and California State Standards for Science.
Assesses students regularly, examines student assessment data, and refines classroom activities to differentiate instruction for each student.
Collaborates closely with Middle School Team Members to align curriculum across subjects, improve own and others instructional practices and share best practices.
Actively participates in professional development activities, including: training sessions and working with principal, instructional coaches.
Provides students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress; finds ways to involve parents/guardians in their child's education.
Tracks critical student information and maintains accurate student recordsIdentifies unique student needs and collaborates with other team members andoutside service providers and address learning challenges.
Prepare the eighth grade students for the transition to high school.
Prepare documentation and send it on to the various high schools.
Plan Graduation activities for the eighth grade students.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum educational level Bachelors' degree Preferred Valid California Teaching Credential Experience required: 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred
Teaching Credential or proof of progress toward a teaching credential is important for this position.
