Job Summary
The High School/AP Science Teacher provides rigorous, engaging instruction in high school Science courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) classes as assigned. This position integrates a distinctly Christian worldview into scientific inquiry while promoting academic excellence, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity. The teacher develops and delivers curriculum aligned with school and AP standards, maintains a disciplined and respectful classroom environment, and fosters both the academic and spiritual growth of students in alignment with the mission of Village Christian School.
Requirements / Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (four-year degree) is required. A master’s degree in a Science field or Education and/or a valid teaching credential is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong instructional ability in Science, effective classroom management skills, experience with laboratory instruction, and proficiency in instructional technology. Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to modeling Christian character and alignment with the school’s Statement of Faith.
Applicants must submit a completed employment application and resume reflecting educational background and relevant teaching experience. Upon hire, employees must provide documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States (I-9), complete required background checks and Live Scan fingerprinting, and provide proof of degree and credentials. Additional documentation such as TB clearance and a signed faith statement may be required in accordance with school policy and state regulations.

The High School/AP Science Teacher develops and delivers engaging Science curriculum; prepares lesson plans and laboratory experiences; assesses student performance; maintains grade and attendance records; communicates regularly with students and parents; maintains classroom discipline; participates in department meetings, school events, and extra-duty assignments; attends overnight trips as assigned; and performs additional duties as directed by administration. The position requires strong organizational skills, collaboration with colleagues, effective communication, and a commitment to integrating faith and learning consistent with the mission of Village Christian School.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation ranges from $45,000 – $70,000 annually and is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Teachers with four or more assigned periods are eligible for benefits.
This position reports directly to the High School Principal.
