Job Summary

Under the direction of an Assistant Principal, perform a variety of secretarial and technical functions to support the high school’s athletic programs and activities; evaluate and verify eligibility of student athletes for participation in interscholastic sports activities; interpret, distribute and orient coaches to State and Conference athletic rules, regulations, codes, and reporting requirements

Requirements / Qualifications

Knowledge of: • Operation of office machines including computer equipment and specified software. • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. • Alpha and numeric filing systems. • Record-keeping techniques. • Basic budgeting practices regarding monitoring and control. • Telephone techniques and etiquette. • Sections of applicable laws. • Operations, procedures, specific rules and precedents of the office. • Correct business English, grammar and composition. • State and league codes, rules and regulations governing athletics and activities. • Policies, procedures and education codes applicable to interscholastic athletics. Ability to: • Maintain records and files. • Assemble, organize and prepare data for records and reports. • Maintain financial and statistical records. • Answer telephones and greet the public courteously. • Operate office machines including a computer and applicable software. • Understand and work within the scope of authority. • Complete work with many interruptions. • Compose correspondence and written materials independently. • Perform specialized secretarial duties in support of program activities. • Understand and resolve issues, complaints or problems.

Education and Experience: • Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by college level coursework in business operations or related field and three (3) years clerical or secretarial experience.
