CUSTODIAN
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Under direction, performs custodial functions at a site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains, cleans and keeps free from safety hazards, an assigned group of classrooms, offices, shops and immediate grounds surrounding all school buildings; receives directions from head custodian to sweep, dust, mop, clean and maintain assigned areas with all applicable equipment in a clean, healthy and hazardous free condition; completes minor maintenance repairs and painting; and performs other assignments as may be given by the site administrator, maintenance supervisor, or head custodian.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Current custodial methods and procedures; cleaning materials, and proper use.
Ability to:
Perform all physical tasks associated with the position; learn operating instructions of mechanical equipment; work cooperately with others.
Education and Experience:
Completion of twelfth grade desired; knowledge of custodial and light maintenance techniques.
Requirements:
Pass fingerprint clearance before employment, complete pre-employment verification offer to document evidence of physical fitness and capacity to perform all responsibilities before employment; possess a valid California drivers’ license, and a DMV printout is required.
Physical Abilities:
Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds; standing and walking for extended periods; bending at the waist; pushing, pulling, carrying, twisting/turning; climbing ladders; vision to assure proper and complete cleaning; and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate power cleaning equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Indoor and outdoor work.
Hazards:
Custodian employees are exposed to cleaning chemicals and fumes.

This is a 12 month position, 248 workdays plus 12 sick days, 13 holidays and 12 vacation days annually. Position does qualify for CalPERS as well as health and welfare benefits. Current working hours is Mondays-Fridays 2:30 pm-11:00 pm when school is in session. During winter, spring and summer breaks working hours will be Mondays-Fridays 6:00 am-2:30 pm.
