- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Subject Area and Management Area
- To help each pupil develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; to develop good relationships with parents and with other staff members
- Teaches courses in mathematics to secondary pupils utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content
- Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of course of study common to all teachers as specified by state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing “discovery”, and laboratory learning methods
- Demonstrates mathematical concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids
- Provides opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
- Designs learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
- Evaluates each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills, and prepares progress reports. May prepare letters of recommendation for scholarships, college applications, etc.
- Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a District level. May teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans
- Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required
- May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, or other professionals
- Relationships
- Communicates with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching mathematics and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil’s progress
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day

- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Shares in sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams, and participates in faculty committees

California Single Subject Credential authorizing service in Mathematics & CTE Credential in information & Communication Technology **If you do not have a posted credential, please attach a letter that states you are currently enrolled in a program, and list your expected graduation date.** English Learner Authorization (CLAD, ELAM, ELAS, and ELA All accepted) If you do not currently possess a full English Learner Authorization, we can cover you under an Emergency CLAD Permit if offered a position with the District. Letter of Introduction Resume (3) Letters of Recommendation
