Job Summary

CLASS TITLE: DATA SPECIALIST BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Executive Director Technology and Education Services and the Executive Director of Learning Support Services, provide technical and troubleshooting support and assistance to school sites and departments in the use of the district’s student information system and telecommunication system; review, maintain and update a variety of data; generate specialized and routine reports. Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, provide support services for centralized student enrollment. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Data Specialist performs varied and highly complex duties in support of the district data and technology needs. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Maintain student information data base; facilitate program functions, including interface with software developers and provide applications support for district database programs i.e. CAASPP, NWEA, SIS, California Physical fitness, etc. E Review, maintain, input, update, import and export a variety of data; establish and maintain automated records and files; generate a variety of computerized documents and reports; assure accuracy of input and output data; make corrections and modifications as needed; add and revise data to meet reporting requirements. E Serve as a liaison between district staff and the Technology Department. Provide first level support and troubleshooting for users of the student information system over the telephone and on site; assist in analyzing and resolving problems. E Prepare, format and submit a variety of electronic date for various State and federal reports including CALPADS. E Coordinate and maintain student enrollment including creating forms and documents, meeting with parents, addressing inquiries, student placement, arrange bussing (if needed), and record requests. Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by courses in secretarial science or related fields, increasing responsible and varied office experience with emphasis on computer hardware and software.
