Life Skills courses are among the most in-demand offerings across our sites, providing a critical foundation for student growth and successful community reintegration. We are seeking collaborative, highly motivated educators who are passionate about making an immediate and meaningful impact in students’ lives through strong instruction and strengths-based pedagogy. Our Life Skills instructors play a vital role in delivering curriculum designed to support personal development and post-release success. Courses are aligned to school curriculum and emphasize practical application through dynamic, student-centered learning experiences, including role play, group discussions, presentations, and self-reflection. Course Areas Include: • Anger Management • Interpersonal Relationships & Communication • Parenting Skills • Addiction & Recovery Course Overview: Anger Management & Relationships Students develop effective communication skills to build healthy relationships within families and communities. The course explores the nature of anger, its connection to violence, and its impact on interpersonal relationships. Students practice strategies to manage emotions and reduce conflict in their daily lives. Addiction & Recovery Students examine current approaches to addiction and recovery, including the impact on individuals, families, and communities. The course also explores the relationship between addiction, anger, and aggression, while supporting students in developing reentry plans and strategies for long-term success. Parenting Skills Students explore various parenting styles and their long-term effects on child development and family dynamics. The course emphasizes building healthy relationships, understanding child growth and development, and transitioning from past patterns to future-focused parenting goals. Position Details: • Full-time: 32.5 hours per week • Eligible for benefits • Participation in CalSTRS required

Requirements to be considered for the Life Skills teacher position: -A valid California Teaching Credential in the following categories: Designated Subjects or Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in Parent Education, or in the Education, Child Development, and Family Services industry sector, or other closely related area. -English Language Learner Authorization -Bilingual preferred not required
