Job Summary
Under the direction of the principal, provides specialized academic instruction to individuals and/or small groups of elementary-aged (TK-6th) students who have not acquired the skills in keeping with their instruction provided in the regular classroom. As a member of the multidisciplinary assessment team, conducts academic assessments and collaborates with the team to provide recommendations for eligibility, goals and services. Prepares Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and conducts IEP meetings.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally fit to undertake responsibilities involving the health, safety, and welfare of children. Must successfully complete a pre-employment medical examination and be free of communicable disease. 2. Possession of an earned Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. 3. Possession of a valid California Education Specialist Instruction teaching credential allowing instruction for mild/moderate and/or moderate/severe students. 4. Knowledge of current trends and research concerning growth and development of Special Education students, and participates in courses or workshops relevant to the above assignment at least once each year is desirable. 5. Must be able to adapt to working in spaces not normally used for group instruction when regular classroom space is not available. 6. Valid California Driver’s License
