CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under direction, supervise construction contracts and inspection of new building and modernization projects.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Supervise the inspection of new building, modernization, and construction; coordinate required inspections and related engineering programs with city, county, and state. E

Participate in construction planning conferences. E

Visit construction projects to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, codes, and regulations. E

Oversee the maintenance of system of periodic construction progress reports or departures from approved plans and specifications; ensure that corrections to work that is not in compliance are completed and documented. E

Coordinate final inspection of completed construction projects and submit recommendations of acceptance. E

Investigate reports of faulty workmanship or materials in new construction and take appropriate action under terms of the guarantee. E

Report progress on building construction projects. E

Work with building inspectors. E

Evaluate change orders and provide input. E

Become familiar with construction contracts and monitor them in the field. E

Make written and oral reports as required. E

Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Applicable building codes and regulations.
Computer applications to prepare a variety of materials.
Oral and written communication skills.

ABILITY TO:
Coordinate the work of contractors, testing firms, inspectors, and public agencies.
Evaluate and recommend action regarding construction litigation.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Perform the essential functions of the job.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and six years of journey-level experience in the building trades or construction industry, at least three years of which have been in a supervisor capacity.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hearing and speaking to accurately exchange information and make presentations.
Seeing to read blueprints and a variety of materials, check construction, and drive a vehicle.

Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to endure long hours.
Lifting or moving objects, normally not exceeding forty (40) pounds.
