DANCE TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking to hire a passionate Dance Teacher to join the New West Charter School family. You will be responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles. You must ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals as a dancer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate dance instruction in all pertinent dance styles such as jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical dance; in person and/or online.

• Develop dance curriculum and prepare daily lesson plans for students in grades 9-12

• Communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of teachers, parents, and students

• Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement

• Choreograph routines for on-campus performances and for Fall and Spring concerts

• Provide a fun, creative, and safe learning environment for all students

• Responsible for fundraising efforts for costumes, competitions, and field-trips

• Follow all New West Policies and Procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in subject area or related field

• Teaching credential is required; valid California Credential in Dance

• EL authorization or CLAD required with California Teaching Credential

• Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred)

• Excellent communication skills

• Working knowledge of Google apps such as Classroom, Slide, Docs, etc. 

• Demonstrated leadership skills
