The Role Crane Country Day School seeks a versatile and collaborative Upper School Math Teacher to fill a one-year leave replacement position. We are looking for an educator who views mathematics not as a series of rote procedures, but as a language for exploration. The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into a high-functioning department to deliver a curriculum that balances rigorous academic challenge with a deep commitment to student well-being. This role is particularly exciting as our 6th-grade program transitions to the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum, a shift that reinforces our belief that "doing deepens discovery" through problem-based learning and student-led inquiry. Duties and Responsibilities Teach four sections of Middle School Math, including one section of 8th Grade, two sections of 7th Grade (Pre-Algebra/Algebra) and co-teaching one section of 6th Grade. Successfully implement a new 6th-grade math curriculum, ensuring lessons and assessments align with departmental learning goals and Crane’s experiential philosophy. Incorporate educational technology thoughtfully to enhance student engagement and coursework. Design and deliver lessons that support diverse learners, ensuring deep conceptual understanding for students at all skill levels. Utilize both formative and summative
