Job Summary

Job Summary

Reports to the Site Principal and to the Director of Special Education & Student Services. Special Education (SE) teachers work with children and youth who have a variety of disabilities. A SE teacher is a case manager for a group of identified exceptional children. By being a case manager, the SE teacher will accept new referrals, coordinate assessments with other specialists, schedule IEP meetings, adhere to the appropriate timelines related to the IEP process, coordinate individual students’ programs and, as needed, develop and implement specialized instruction to SE students. They will collaborate with general education teachers about means of modifying student work and teaching methods for students with special needs children in their classrooms. They will have a classroom where SE students come for specialized instruction, and will provide push in support in general education classes. An additional $2,500 annual stipend will be awarded for Special Education. The current contract allows for 3/4 day per week for preparation time.

• A valid California certified Special Education Credential • Autism Certification • CLAD / CTEL Certification • Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances as required by law (upon hire)
