Job Summary
The Athletic Director is responsible for the overall leadership, development, coordination, and supervision of assigned CIF interscholastic athletic programs. This role provides visionary leadership, strategic planning, and policy development to ensure a high-quality athletic program aligned with the mission and strategic priorities of Santa Margarita Catholic High School (SMCHS). The Athletic Director oversees athletic operations; recruits, evaluates, and manages athletic staff; and ensures full compliance with SMCHS, Trinity League, and CIF rules and regulations. The position is also responsible for fostering a culture that supports spiritual growth, sportsmanship, healthy competition, and the holistic development of student-athletes.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Master’s Degree preferred • Extensive knowledge of high school athletics • Previous playing/coaching experience is strongly recommended • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills • Ability to work well with others • Current in certifications as required by SMCHS, CIF, and NFHS • Follow professional guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook Special Qualities & Characteristics: • Passionate for the mission of SMCHS—the integral formation of students’ faith, intellect, and character • Deep appreciation for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the teachings of the Church • Strong initiative and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment • Superior rapport with parents, students, and staff
