Job Summary

Job Summary

The County Superintendent of Schools operates the county community school serving expelled youth, SARB referred youth and others as referred by local school districts. Emphasis is on academics, a structured environment and positive feedback for results to encourage student success. Under the direct supervision of the Community School Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Community School teachers will collaborate with staff from school sites, Probation Department and community agencies to problem-solve student behavior management issues and family intervention; negotiate and maintain a behavioral management program balanced with strong academic requirements; operate a self-contained classroom within curriculum frameworks and standards; and work toward the goal of returning the community school students to regular school programs when appropriate.
