The Literacy Specialist is responsible for providing high-impact literacy instruction through one-on-one and small group interventions for students requiring additional support. This position collaborates with educators to develop responsive strategies that integrate research-based literacy lessons in the classroom and at home to support student improvement of core English Language Arts (ELA) understanding. Specifically, the Literacy Specialist will partner with the English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator to help implement a literacy plan aligned with the California Literacy Initiative while contributing to the Reading Task Force. The Literacy Specialist will also train and coach teachers in the implementation of this plan. The English Language Development Provider will design and implement ELD lessons tailored to varying English proficiency levels. The ELD Provider will develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned to California ELD Standards and the ELD/ELA Framework, as well as administer language assessments and monitor student progress towards proficiency. In addition, the ELD Provider will lead the reclassification process, including participation in IEP meetings to ensure linguistically appropriate goals. They will utilize MTSS systems to assess, schedule, plan, collect data, and maintain service. This position will support and uphold the mission and vision of The Classical Academies.
