Job Summary
Under the direction of the Principal and Special Education Administrator, provide behavioral support and instructional assistance to students emotional and other related behaviors in an assigned classroom or other learning environment; provide positive behavior interventions and instructional support strategies to assigned students; collect, maintain, and record data on student behavior; perform a variety of clerical and supportive tasks.
Requirements / Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two years’ experience working with children. College coursework may be substituted for experience. Requirements specified under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) include: - Have the equivalent of two years of college completion or an AA degree OR - Pass a Paraprofessional Exam offered by Santa Cruz City Schools
ESSA compliance may be shown by college transcripts showing at least 48 semester units of coursework or a copy of an Associates degree (or higher). Passing scores on an NCLB or ESSA proficiency test also meet this requirement. If you need to arrange to take a proficiency test, please contact our office before the closing date of this posting.
