Job Summary
Elementary School Principal serves as the instructional leader and chief administrator of the school. This role is responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. The principal oversees daily operations, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with district, state, and federal policies. The principal supports all Downey Unified District initiatives and exemplifies the attributes of Character Counts!.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field • Valid administrative credential • Minimum of 3–5 years of elementary teaching experience • Prior leadership experience (e.g., vice principal) preferred • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Data-driven instructional leadership • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills • Ability to build a positive and inclusive school culture • CPR / First Aid certification required or willingness to enroll in program
