**This is an on site only position servicing multiple sites for a maximum of 7 hours per week.** The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Itinerant Teacher is responsible for providing quality education services designed to address the unique needs of children (birth to 22 years old) identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing, through a multi-modal communication methodology, based on individual student needs, and across all educational settings. The DHH Itinerant Teacher organizes and manages programs and instruction for deaf and hard of hearing learners to meet proficiency or appropriate differential standards, provides instruction specific to the disability, and facilitates inclusion of students into activities/instruction in general education classrooms. The DHH Itinerant Teacher observes and provides direct instruction to students, consults with and assist special and regular education staff to adapt classroom instructional strategies and environments to accommodate students with varying degrees of hearing, collaborates with school-site administrators to train/support DHH paraprofessionals, is committed to team collaboration in planning and implementation of student program, is an effective communicator with children and adults. The DHH Itinerant Teacher also serves as a liaison between the school and various community agencies and professionals that provide services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children and their families, provides parent support and information about the impact, and provides instruction in academics, communication/language, auditory skills, self-advocacy, and social skill development.
