Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

Provides an educational program for students in grades TK thru 8th Grades, or a combination thereof, and assists in other school programs as assigned; responsibility for evaluation of each teacher shall reside with the site principal.

Essential Functions:

  1.   Multiple subject: Teaches the subjects prescribed by state and local regulatory bodies, i.e., reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music, to pupils in          a self-contained classroom, utilizing the state standards course of study and curriculum, and other appropriate learning activities adopted by the Board of Trustees, and the State of California

  2.   Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district

  3.   Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that address a variety of individual learning modalities

  4.   Uses technology effectively in classroom instruction, in keeping appropriate records, and in preparing progress reports, report cards, benchmark assessments, etc.  

  5.   Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; insures a safe learning environment.  Knowledge and experience of grade level            State Standards of single subject taught, and/or grade level.

  6.   Evaluates academic growth, and communicates with parents on the individual student's progress.

  7.   Assists in identifying student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

  8.   Creates a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards, and/or interest centers.

  9.   Maintains professional competence through participation in required in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

10.   Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required.

11.   Upholds District Board Policies /Rules and Regulations.

12.   Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilizes the available time for instruction.

 

Requirements / Qualifications

Appropriate California Teaching Credential; BA degree and CBEST, and courses needed to meet credential requirements; DOJ fingerprint and current TB clearances required.
