Job Summary

Under the general direction of a Police Sergeant, provide work direction and guidance to District Safety Officers (DSO), conduct training, and assist with patrol of school buildings, yards, and parking areas to maintain order and prevent illegal acts.

Requirements / Qualifications

In addition, applicants are required by law to complete the Mandatory Employment Disclosure by listing all previous and current Local Education Agency (LEA) employment, including school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and state special schools. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and five years in law enforcement as a Campus Security Officer or related field. One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience is preferable and will be given priority consideration. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates.

Applicant must also show satisfactory proof of completion of the PC 832 course (Laws of Arrest) or equivalent (i.e. Police Academy graduate) and proof of completion of one of the following courses: PC 832.2 (School Police Reserve Officer Training) or PC 823.3 (Campus Law Enforcement) or School Security Training (per Senate Bill 1626 and Education Code 38001.5). The documents (such as certificates or transcripts) verifying the above requirements must accompany the application. This position requires a valid High School Diploma/Degree or valid equivalency established by an accredited institution/agency within the United States. Applications that do not include a valid degree will not be considered.
