About Global Education Academy Middle School

Global Education Academy is a Public Charter School with a focus on global education. Empowering students with strong academic and technology skills, Global Education Academy seeks to develop successful leaders in both the local and international community. Global Education Academy will not only increase academic achievement, but will create citizens who can explore global issues and solve real-world problems. Global Education Academy intends to realize these goals by providing a rigorous and challenging academic curriculum and opportunities for a wide variety of linguistic and cultural experiences.

Global Education Academy serves an area of need in the District where schools are impacted by large class size and low academic state rankings. It is our mission to implement an innovative and small school design focused on personalizing students’ education that will support the District’s goals for improving performance in elementary schools.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Counselor will perform the duties necessary to meet the direct service needs of students and perform the duties necessary to meet the case management needs of students in a school setting.

- Implement and monitor behavior support plans as required by students for educational success

- Prepare required student forms and maintains accurate student academic records, attendance records, and cumulative student progress and achievement records and reports

- Track progress towards goals and inform parents, teachers, and principal concerning progress toward goals

- Knowledge of California State Standards/Common Core, curriculum, and education code

- Knowledge of subject area and instructional methodologies/techniques, English Language Development, and computer technology

- Awareness of LAUSD Special Education procedures and policies
