Job Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Human Resources provides visionary leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining high-quality HR programs and services that build strong teams and improve systems across the district. The Director plays a critical role in helping the district attract, support, and retain excellent staff by ensuring that all HR practices are efficient, transparent, and aligned with the district’s goals for student success. This position leads and facilitates the administration of services for certificated and classified personnel in accordance with the California Education Code, Board Policies, and Master Agreements. The Director supervises the implementation of the District’s personnel philosophy, goals, and objectives to benefit all employees, and is responsible for overseeing a wide range of HR functions, including staffing, position control, employee relations, negotiations, professional growth and improvement programs, evaluations, and new teacher support initiatives. In addition, the Director supervises and manages areas related to risk management, health benefits, employee safety, workers' compensation, OSHA compliance, and hazardous materials management and training.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. BA or BS required. 2. MS in Human Resources preferred. 3. Applicant with or without a valid California Administrative credential and valid California teaching credential welcome to apply. 4. Completion of Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Personnel Academy or comparable training (preferred). 5. Personal Characteristics: Demonstrated qualities of leadership, collaboration, ethical, respectful, integrity, honest, effective communication and problem solver. Experience: 1. Three to Five years of successful experience in Human Resource Management, Personnel Services and/or related administrative experience at the district office, school site or executive level is preferred. 2. Demonstrates qualities of leadership, ability to speak and write effectively, broad knowledge and skill in effective communication and problem solving. 3. Successful experience in labor relations and negotiations. Knowledge Of: 1. State Labor law. 2. California Education Code. 3. Policies, Regulations, and Bylaws of school governance. 4. California Public Employee Relations Act 5. The Rodda Act Ability To: 1. Plan, organize, direct, and manage assigned personnel. 2. Serve as a resource to others. 3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, groups, public agencies and the general public. 4. Communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form. 5. Utilize time management and organizational skills. 6. Maintain confidentiality. 7. Utilize technology to improve and innovate systems.
