The Sacramento City Unified School District seeks a dynamic, equity-driven instructional leader to serve as Principal of Isador Cohen Elementary beginning August 2026. Isador Cohen is a welcoming school that serves a very diverse community. Students, staff, and families take pride in a learning environment grounded in belonging, care, and high expectations. The school community seeks a principal who will honor its traditions and close-knit identity while collaboratively guiding the school forward through innovative and inclusive practices that meet the needs of all learners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in high-quality literacy and math instruction, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks, and the use of data-driven interventions to accelerate student achievement. The successful leader will also possess deep knowledge of English Language Development for emergent bilingual learners. The principal must effectively support multilingual learners, students with disabilities, gifted learners, and students requiring differentiated academic or behavioral supports. Additionally, the principal will leverage instructional technology as a strategic tool to expand access, enhance engagement, and support meaningful learning for all students. Isador Cohen serves families who represent a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including many Farsi, Dari, and Pashto speaking students and others who speak additional world languages. The principal must demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive communication to ensure that all families—regardless of language background—feel welcomed, informed, respected, and connected to the school community. Requirements / Qualifications

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.
