Job Summary
The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) supports students in developing the skills necessary for academic success and participation in the school environment. This role focuses on improving fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional skills to help students access their educational program. Duties/ Responsibilities: * Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) * Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ functional needs * Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals * Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior teams, and related service providers * Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting * Provide consultation and training to school staff on strategies to support student success * Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs and progress reports * Support students with sensory regulation, fine motor skills, handwriting, and daily living skills * Adapt classroom materials and environments to meet student needs * Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities: * Ability to move, lift, and position students as needed * Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods * Fine motor skills for documentation and therapy activities * Experience with sensory integration techniques * Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment * Ability to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks effectively Education/Experience & Other Requirements * Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist * Experience working in a school or pediatric setting (preferred) * Knowledge of special education laws, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) * Strong communication and collaboration skills Working Environment: * School-based settings (elementary, middle, or high school) at Paramount School District * May require travel between school sites within the Paramount School District * Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
