Job Summary

Middle School Social Studies Teacher – Part-Time (.6) Primary Function Part-time core subject teachers are responsible for creating and maintaining an organized, engaging, and effective classroom environment in which students can grow academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and critically. Instructional practices should reflect the values, classroom management approaches, and teaching methodologies of Tierra Pacifica Charter School. Teachers are expected to incorporate critical pedagogy, demonstrate an understanding of how systems of oppression impact student experiences and classroom dynamics, and actively work toward educational equity. Core subject teachers collaborate with colleagues and the Executive Director to develop an equity-focused, arts-integrated, and developmentally appropriate program. While curriculum is provided, teachers are encouraged to incorporate additional content aligned with their expertise and interests. Teachers are responsible for monitoring and assessing student progress, using data to inform standards-based instruction and to document student growth.
