About the Employer
The Hawking Story The first Hawking STEAM Charter School opened in 2012 in Chula Vista with only 140 students and initially served grades TK-3. The second Hawking STEAM Charter School opened in South San Diego (near San Ysidro) the following school year with 144 students and served grades TK-3. We have since grown to serve more than 1300 students across those two campuses. In August 2019, both schools moved into newly remodeled facilities, with Hawking 1 still serving Chula Vista and Hawking 2 still serving South San Diego/San Ysidro. With those new facilities, we have been able to expand, and we now serve students in grades TK-8 at both schools. Our Mission Hawking’s mission is to uplift the diverse communities we serve by empowering all children to maximize their potential through opportunities to think, create, innovate, and discover in a safe, academic and inclusive environment.
