Job Summary
Job Summary
The Director is responsible for the management and implementation of a comprehensive communications, public affairs, and marketing program for the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE). This includes the planning, organization, development, and dissemination of information and publicity relating to various EDCOE programs, services, events, activities, and initiatives to ensure public understanding of the EDCOE’s mission, goals, and accomplishments and those of public education, in general. The responsibilities of the Director include raising the visibility of EDCOE and districts within the County to specific audiences and the general public, positively positioning the organization, and enhancing the image and understanding of EDCOE and public education in local communities, communities of interest in El Dorado County, and regional and state agencies or organizations involved in matters of interest to public education. The Director facilitates cooperative relationships with the media, local business organizations, civic leaders, and community partners to communicate efforts and project a positive image of EDCOE. The Director guides the organization in shaping high-level, appropriately targeted communications for timely distribution to local news media, websites, community publications, and social media platforms.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience: Experience in a public education system or similar public sector environment is preferred. Education: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree with course work in communications, public information, journalism, or related field and three years of increasingly responsible marketing, public information, journalism, or related experience.
