THE POSITION: The Coordinator II, Los Angeles County (LAC) Charter Special Education Local Plan Area is responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance of the data management systems SEIS, SIRAS Systems, and CALPADS (California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System) to support compliance and program effectiveness. Shall assist in the direction of special education programs within the LAC Charter SELPA; provide technical, specialized, consultative, advisory, and planning services as they relate to special education programs within the member districts and member charter schools; assist, advise, and guide both central office and site administration in special education program monitoring and quality assurance; coordinate with and assist legal counsel and/or compliance support services in preparing for hearings and proceedings related to special education related complaints; conduct neutral fact- finding investigations into complaints of potential violations of state and federal laws as they relate to special education programs or services; plan, coordinate, and monitor special education programs and procedures; organize trainings and in-services related to special education; provide direction and leadership; develop and implement strategic plans; supervise and direct special education program personnel; and perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Comprehensive, directly related, and progressive experience which includes four or more years as a special education teacher or service provider. Additionally, three years of special education administrative or management related experience preferably at the SELPA level is desirable, but not required and includes: responsibility of direct special education program oversight; program specialist responsibilities; or other leadership experience supervising programs for students with disabilities. Education: A Master’s degree in Special Education or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach detailed certification/credential with document number to application): • Possess and maintain a valid Administrative Services or Supervisory Credential authorizing service to K-12. • Possess and maintain a Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Rehabilitative Services Credential or a Special Education Teaching Credential.
