Job Summary
Under general supervision of a Department Director or Program Coordinator, the Administrative Specialist plans, coordinates and schedules District employees, independent contractors, classes, workshops, programs and events related to a District program or department with specialized project/program coordination needs. This class does not exercise supervision over other positions, but serves as a technical or project lead to assigned office staff within the department or program. Finally, this class provides specialized, technical-level training and support in project/program management, requiring more knowledge or experience with specific subject matter.

POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals to fill a full-time Administrative Specialist position. The current opening is in Educational Services supporting the Director of Early Childhood and other curricular areas and programs. Scheduled hours will be determined with the Director, but will generally be between 7:30am and 4:30pm. The position is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, and 12 months per year. This classification more generally provides career opportunities throughout the District at 40 hours/week, and 11 to 12 month/year positions with a work schedules between 7:30am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Actual schedule to be worked out with the department supervisor upon hire. In addition, both positions come with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation. The District offers a comprehensive prorated benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Equivalent qualifications include graduation from high school, supplemented by college coursework or training in related areas, along with three years of progressively responsible clerical experience. This is a promotional opportunity and is only available to current, permanent employees of Fullerton School District. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview.
To qualify for placement on an eligibility list, candidates must achieve a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be determined by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veterans' credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office simultaneously with the application form or before testing. The eligibility list will remain active for twelve (12) months. It will be utilized to fill both current and future vacancies.
