Suncoast is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Specialist focused on Extensive Needs (Moderate/Severe) for a distinctive hybrid role that integrates virtual and in-person specialized academic instruction sessions with students. As a Special Education Specialist at our charter school, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of our diverse student population. This is a unique hybrid role that combines virtual and in-person meetings covering various counties, including Orange County and adjacent counties. The Suncoast Special Education Specialist is an innovator who inspires and supports Home Study/ Homeschool families assigned to you by developing an engaging and highly individualized education plan (IEP). A Special Education Specialist coordinates all aspects of the IEP as a case manager, collaborates with service providers, and engages in ongoing data collection to drive instruction, goals, and services. You should be a positive, caring individual with excellent organizational skills. You should have stellar verbal and written communication skills. You must be proactive, team-oriented, flexible, and sensitive to the needs of others in the program. Special Education Specialist’s regular hours are Monday through Friday during school hours and on additional days and times as needed to participate in IEP meetings and career learning opportunities.
Requirements / Qualifications
~ Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field ~ California Education Specialist Teaching Credential required ~ Minimum of 2 years or more teaching experience in an elementary or secondary school setting preferred ~ Previous experience with homeschool or independent study programs strongly preferred
