Primary Duties: The Social Studies Instructor is responsible for delivering high quality instruction and contributing to a coherent, standards aligned Social Studies program. This includes designing and implementing engaging lessons, assessing student learning, and providing targeted support to meet the needs of all students. The teaching load consists of five sections of Social Studies courses. Bishop Alemany High School is expanding and hiring multiple Social Studies Instructors, and teaching assignments may include a combination of courses such Economics, AP Macroeconomics, U.S. Government, U.S. History, Law and Society and AP US Government based on department needs and the candidate’s experience. The instructor will collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment across courses, support student growth through clear and consistent expectations, and contribute to a positive and academically focused classroom environment. Description of Position: A Social Studies instructor is part of the Social Studies Department that reports to the Social Studies Department Chair, and the school’s administrative team (President, Principal and Assistant Principals). Essential Job Functions: • Teaching courses within the Social Studies Department • Create an environment in the classroom and in all areas of co-curricular responsibility that nurtures the development of faith, integrity, and truth. • Design and implement regular formative and summative assessments to measure student learning. • Proficiency in curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment. • Be an active member of our Catholic school community by participating in religious events (Masses, retreats, days of recollection, penance services, etc.) and non-religious events like athletics, performances, rallies, etc. • Chaperone and supervise during the school day and some evenings and weekends. • Meet with students and parents as necessary before and after school.
Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements/Education and Qualifications: • B.A. in related field is required; Master's degree or Teaching Credential preferred • 3-5 years of experience teaching is required; Catholic high school preferred • Strong rapport with students while maintaining healthy boundaries and strong classroom management skills • Sensitivity and understanding of a multi-ethnic and faith campus
