Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, plan, organize and direct the services of the Special Education Department; assist in the development and implementation of the Special Education budget; direct and supervise certificated and classified staff, as assigned; develop, implement and monitor special projects assigned; provide responsible and professional staff assistance and management of Special Education services and activities. Collaborate with other department leads to implement an integrated service delivery model to support districts.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possess a valid School Administrative Services Credential; • Possess an appropriate California Teaching Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology; • Five (5) years or classroom teaching; • Five (5) years or more of comprehensive and directly related progressive experience. • A Master of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in special education or closely related field is highly desired; • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License; • Provide proof of automobile insurability; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
