Requirements / Qualifications

THIS POSITION IS TO BE FILLED FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Must have an AA degree or higher or at least 48 semester units of general education or pass an assessment test. • One year experience performing literary Braille transcription and one year working with visually handicapped children. REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: • Knowledge of literary Braille code. • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in Braille transcription. • Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as oral and written communication skills. • Knowledge of routine record management and standard office procedures, as well as interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. • Knowledge of specialized codes such as Nemeth, foreign language, and music are desired. • Ability to operate a Braille writer, computer, typewriter, and other related office machinery. • Ability to plan and organize work; meet schedules and timelines. • Ability to utilize a variety of instructional materials and procedures to enhance a positive educational environment, and maintain records. • Ability to read, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
