General Description of Position Goals: Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, the Beyond the Bell Coordinator will lead and support the implementation of expanded learning programs across Coachella Valley Unified School District. This includes before school, after school, weekend, intersession, and summer enrichment programs. The Coordinator will work closely with school site program coordinators, community partners, and district departments to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficiently run programs that meet both district goals and grant requirements. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations and logistics, such as attendance and enrollment tracking, timecard and payroll management, facility scheduling, procurement, and inventory systems. The Coordinator will also be responsible for program quality, including staff recruitment, training, and evaluation; building and sustaining community partnerships; monitoring compliance and program effectiveness; and preparing internal and external reports. This position requires a flexible, non-traditional schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, school breaks, and holidays. Regular travel between school sites is expected, and the use of a personal vehicle is required. The Beyond the Bell Coordinator plays an essential role in ensuring that all expanded learning programs provide safe, enriching, and engaging experiences that support student success beyond the traditional school day.

Job Requirements/Qualifications 1. Experience: At least five (5) years’ experience of demonstrating successful Beyond the Bell or afterschool programming. District, school site level and/or community based administrative experience OR to have any combination of demonstrated experience considered by the Administration and Governing Board to provide the ability to perform successfully in the position. 2. Education: AA degree in the field of liberal studies. 3. English/Spanish, desirable. 4. Other Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: • Department of Homeland Security I-9 Form completion • TB Test Clearance • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License during the course of employment. Must be insurable at standard rates and maintain such insurability during the course of employment.

The Coachella Valley is a valley in Southern California which extends for approximately 45 mi in Riverside County southeast from the San Bernardino Mountains to the northern shore of the Salton Sea. Coachella Valley Unified School District is located is located about 30 miles east of Palm Springs off Highway 86.
The valley connects with the Greater Los Angeles area to the west via the San Gorgonio Pass, a major transportation corridor that includes I-10 and the Union Pacific Railroad. The valley is part of the 13th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, the Inland Empire metropolitan area. The famous desert resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert lie in the Coachella Valley. The Coachella Valley is the second largest sub-region in the Inland Empire, after the Greater San Bernardino Area which may be due to the number of seasonal residents in the winter months which at peak times may surpass 100,000 with another 3.5 million annual conventioneers and tourists.
