The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The Orange County Department of Education is looking for a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to implement and maintain enterprise data, voice, and video networks while ensuring secure data transmission across internal and external systems. This role collaborates with vendors, clients, carriers, and technical teams on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management, and provides advanced technical support for LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, and related hardware. The Network Engineer administers network services in alignment with organizational policies, plans and implements hardware and software upgrades, and troubleshoots performance, connectivity, and security issues. Responsibilities also include managing network security controls, installing and supporting voice, data, and video systems, and providing technical guidance and support to management on network operations and improvements. This position visits a variety of work locations, include juvenile hall/probation sites. The selected candidate must pass an additional background clearance by the Probation Department. Note: OCDE does not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future. This is an on-site position based at our Costa Mesa administrative office.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field • Four (4) years of experience supporting a data and voice network

The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.
