Job Summary

Job Summary

The Alameda County Office of Education serves some of the most vulnerable student populations in Alameda County, including students who have faced significant barriers to success in traditional school settings. Our division serves diverse student populations referred by local school districts, probation, and social services. Students who enroll at Quest Academy often arrive with disrupted educational experiences, historical trauma, and a deep mistrust of school systems. Many have experienced exclusionary discipline, school instability, or other events that have disconnected them from their peers, routines, and support networks. Students may also be navigating challenges such as poverty, community violence, family instability, or patterns of disengagement from school. Because of these realities, many students enter Quest Academy academically behind and emotionally guarded. Before meaningful academic progress can occur, students must first experience safety, belonging, and trust within the school environment. For this reason, Quest Academy prioritizes relationship-building, community, and student engagement as the foundation for re-engaging students in learning. Quest Academy offers students in Alameda County a dynamic alternative to traditional instruction through a standards-based daily and independent study program. This model supports personalized learning and flexibility through a collaborative agreement between the school community, administration, teachers, students, and families. Educators will use a blended approach that includes independent study and cross-classroom instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students. We value innovation, teacher voice, and collaboration, and staff actively contribute to school-wide initiatives that support student success. Our commitment to restorative practices, MTSS, and PBIS helps create a positive and inclusive environment where relationships and community are central to learning.
