Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications • California Education Specialist Instruction Credential or other appropriate specialist credential • Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology or related field • Minimum 10 years' of experience working with students with disabilities • Experience in conducting psycho-educational assessments of students (ages 3 to 22) with a variety of disabilities (e.g. emotional disturbance, intellectual disability, autism, learning disability, ADHD, etc.) • Experience interviewing students, family members and school personnel • Knowledge and experience using California Ed. Code and DSM-5 • Excellent analytical and writing skills • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a transdisciplinary assessment team • Able to complete assignments with pre-established timelines • Ability to present assessment findings, implications and recommendations in a clear and sensitive manner to parents and school district personnel at student case conferences • Ability to develop and provide trainings and workshops • Valid driver’s license and ability to participate and travel throughout the DCN’s catchment area (35 counties), including overnight stays as needed Desirable Skills • Ability to conduct standardized and informal assessments • Outstanding oral and written communication • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • An in-depth knowledge of special education law, procedures, disabilities and educational interventions • Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum and Evidence-Based Practices • Specific expertise in areas of non-biased assessment and alternative assessment • Bilingual capability and multi-cultural background is highly desirable

The Diagnostic Center North (DCN) is accepting applications for two (2) School Psychologist positions. The individual selected to fill this position will participate as a member of a transdisciplinary assessment team and work with some of California’s most complex and challenging students. Primary job duties include providing consultation and assessment services, composing comprehensive reports of assessment findings, implications and recommendations for instructional strategies and related services within the context of a multiple disciplinary report. In addition, you will attend parent/district conferences and meetings, develop and conducts training programs and workshops and travel throughout Northern California. In conjunction to providing high quality diagnostic assessment services, the School Psychologist administers, scores, and interprets standardized and informal measures of assessments. The School Psychologist will have opportunities to provide professional development opportunities to educators, service providers, and parents on topics related to learning, behavior and interventions at various local, regional and statewide educational trainings and conferences.
