Job Summary
Job Summary
El Rio Community School, a Waldorf-inspired TK-8 public charter school, is seeking a Director of School Culture (DSC) to create and maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment and school culture. The DSC will serve as a leader, mentor, and collaborator for faculty and staff, developing and leading systems that ensure that the school culture is grounded in El Rio’s commitment to DEIB principles and supports the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of all of our students. This role helps to create and sustain a culture that aligns with the 7 Core Principles of Waldorf, prioritizing a child-centered, developmentally appropriate approach to child care and discipline that is also inclusive, just and diverse. The DSC reports directly to the Executive Director and is part of the school Leadership Team.

- A commitment to public Waldorf education and the mission of El Rio Community School. - Prioritizes building own leadership skills with the ability to work both autonomously and in teams - Is consistently self-reflective and seeks feedback on their leadership skills and mindsets - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships with students, families, staff, and community members - Expertise in positive school and class culture and the ability to articulate effective strategies to teachers and staff - Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred - Successful teaching experience highly preferred - Possession of a valid California teaching, Pupil Personnel Services, or Administrative Services credential preferred - Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree highly preferred
