The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to add to the substitute pool for the position of Preschool Teacher. Substitute Preschool Teachers are on-call, as needed to teach children from BIRTH TO FOUR (4) YEARS OF AGE for Little Schoolhouse Child Development Center in National City, CA.

Under the direction of the Preschool Specialist, Preschool Teachers will provide supervision, care and instruction to students, as well as prepare and organize classroom activities and materials for the assigned program and age group.

Assignments for this position will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and are located at the
Little Schoolhouse Child Development Center at 2401 E. 24th St., National City, CA.

The education and experience requirements include at least 12 units of Child Development (CD)/Early Childhood Education (ECE) including 3-semester units related to infant care, and at least six (6) months of experience working with infant, toddler and/or preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning and care center or comparable group childcare program.

  • Copy of valid First Aid and CPR (Infant/Child/Adult) certification as issued by an American Red Cross or an American Heart Association-approved program

It is important to note to become a substitute/limited-term employee, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs up to $77 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost) if processed using SDCOE fingerprinting services. In addition, if you apply and are selected for a permanent position at any point there would be an additional cost up to $77 (currently) for fingerprinting as a permanent employee (taken out of your first regular paycheck).Fingerprints can be paid in the form of a money order, cashier's check, or debit/credit card. If paid by card, you may incur a card processing fee.
