Requirements / Qualifications

Applicant must have an BA/BS Degree in Behavioral Science preferred and a valid drivers license and insurance is required.

Applicant must submit application, resume, and letters of recommendation from previous employers. Fundamental Responsibilities: Provide community outreach to drop out at-risk students. Develop student admission and orientations. Implement and incorporate all disciplinary procedures. Provide individual group and family counseling. Provide daily home visitation for students. Track and monitor all students’ daily school attendance. Case notes on students along with proper documentation. This position needs to work effectively with multi-cultural/diverse groups and have the knowledge of school discipline procedures and the ability to provide counseling and assistant to student. The Lead Student Support Counselor must have the ability to coordinate and supervise youth, maintain and establish cooperative working relationships with others, and have the knowledge of supportive needs for the students and referrals. Counselor must be able to collaborate with several different organizations.

Job Duties: Perform home visits for absent students Confer with parents, students, and other representatives regarding student attendance Organize an outreach to students Participate in orientations and pre-registration Assist with the supervision of college interns as needed Perform individual, group, and family counseling Make home calls to parents according to established procedures and time lines, as a cause of student absences Communicate with other district representatives to recommend placement or transfers Develop drop and enrollment slips for students Aid in the identification of students with social, emotional, and academic problems that tend to interfere with satisfactory school adjustment Attend and participate in meetings as needed Complete portions of the Individualized Program Plans Confer with administration in regards to discipline matters Enroll students and screen students coming into the program Assist with the coordination, development and supervision of student activities Interpret policies and procedures to staff students, parents, community members and others Provide referrals for clothing and food to families of students Implement Peer Mediation Program Preform other duties as assigned.
