Transitional Kindergarten Teacher - San Diego Cooperative Charter School

San Diego Cooperative Charter School (SDCCS) is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Transitional Kindergarten (TK) teacher to join our progressive, child-centered learning community. This position is specifically for a TK classroom, requiring an educator who understands early childhood development, supports a fully inclusive learning environment, and welcomes family engagement as an essential part of the educational experience.

Position Requirements

Qualified candidates must:

 Hold a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD or EL authorization.

Meet California TK requirements, which include one of the following:

• Completion of 24 early childhood education (ECE) or child development units OR
• A Child Development Teacher Permit or higher OR
• At least one year of full-time teaching experience in TK or kindergarten, along with 24 ECE/CD units OR
• Completion of professional development in early childhood education equivalent to 24 ECE units (if required).

Have a strong understanding of child development, with experience working with students ages 4-5 years old in a developmentally appropriate setting.

Be committed to inclusive education, including working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a general education setting.

Demonstrate expertise in constructivist, play-based, and problem-solving instructional approaches.

Foster a nurturing, student-centered classroom that supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, and academically.

Collaborate with other teachers to design curriculum, aligning with school-wide themes and California’s Early Learning Foundations.

Partner with families as active participants in their child’s education, creating a cooperative classroom environment.

Maintain effective classroom management that encourages student independence, curiosity, and engagement.

Stay engaged in continuous learning and reflective practice to enhance instruction and student outcomes.
