Coordinator of Special Education starting in the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE position.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Coordinator of Special Education works at the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education to support special education staff and services through coordinating and supervising certificated and classified staff in District programs. The Coordinator will be responsible for advising District staff on special education legal issues and ensuring that the District remains legally compliant in all required areas of programming and written documentation. The coordinator will be responsible for supporting specific types of programs, such as programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Severe Handicaps, Learning Handicaps, Emotional Disturbances, or other defining characteristics. The Coordinator will be required to work collaboratively with all District staff, parents, community, agency personnel, and students and promote positive relationships while preventing and resolving conflict. The Coordinator will be part of a team which implements research-based and validated practices within the District within a Response to Intervention model. Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of special education law and experience and knowledge concerning a variety of students, particularly transition students at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Standard District Qualifications: Possession of a valid credential authorizing administrative services. Successful Special Education classroom teaching experience is desirable. Possession of a CLAD certificate or an emergency CLAD permit required.
