The English Language Arts Teacher will cultivate a rigorous, instructional culture that strives to build readers, writers, and communicators prepared to meet the demands of college and engage as productive citizens of the world. In our classrooms, scholars read worthwhile complex texts nearly every day; challenging texts that build their understanding that reading is their pathway to knowledge and develop the critical thinking skills and vocabulary necessary for long-term success. Scholars ground daily writing and discussion in evidence. Scholars will interface with daily practice discussing and writing about informational and literary text and other media in order to be successful in college and career. Additionally, in our ELA classrooms we require scholars to do the thinking while engaging with meaningful content.
