Job Summary
• Coordinate daily food service operations to ensure meals are prepared, transported, and served in proper quantities and within required timeframes. • Develop menus and determine food quantities in compliance with the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, and other child nutrition program requirements. • Prepare, cook, bake, and serve meals and snacks as assigned. • Oversee and participate in food preparation and service activities, including set-up of serving lines, carts, and mobile kitchen operations when applicable. • Ensure all food service facilities, equipment, utensils, and storage areas meet sanitation and food safety standards. • Order, receive, inspect, store, and inventory food, supplies, and equipment; ensure proper stock rotation and storage. • Coordinate and provide work directions to food service staff, substitutes, student workers, and/or volunteers as assigned. • Train staff and student helpers in safe food handling practices, sanitation procedures, personal hygiene, and equipment use. • Maintain awareness of special dietary needs and assist in accommodating dietary restrictions and medical meal modifications. • Prepare and submit required reports related to meals served, food usage, inventory, and financial records. • Monitor food service areas for safety, sanitation, and appropriate student behavior; reports concerns to appropriate staff. • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and facility issues to supervisor. • Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administrators, and outside agencies. • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the entire kitchen and equipment. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent. • Hold a valid automobile operator’s license with current insurance. • Food Handler’s Certification (ServSafe or equivalent)
